So, what is Georneys exactly?

The Georneys system is threefold. On the one hand, parents save their children's information on the site for retrieval if the child becomes lost. Knowing your child's current height, weight, and having a recent photograph are very important parts of information that aid law enforcement in finding your child should they go missing. Georneys provides a place to store that information that can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. The information is securely encrypted and password protected and only the parents can view the child's information.

Should a child become lost, if the child is wearing a Georneys ID tag on their wrist, shoe lace or in their pocket, a responsible person assisting them can look up the ID number on the Georneys web site. The search returns the child's first name and allows the user to connect to the parents of the child. If the child has any emergency medical issues, they may be displayed as well.

The point of Georneys is to help responsible people return lost children to their parents. It will also allow parents to keep track of vital statistic information should the child go missing.

The other major portion of Georneys is a social network to allow families to share fun places to go and interesting things to do with small children.

Does Georneys "track" my child's activities?

No. The Georneys system does not have any electronic hardware. The ID card or shoe tag is only to alert good sumaritans on where to find contact information for the child's parents. Think of it as a Medic-Alert bracelet for contacting parents.

Why doesn't Georneys use any tracking hardware like GPS?

GPS is only reliable outdoors, and even then, conditions must be nearly perfect to get a good signal. The smaller the receiver, the more difficult it is to get a good signal. Because of the size of the GPS receiver that would be required to put on a small child, the signal would be even less reliable. Also, because the Goerneys system is specified for very young children, we believe in keeping your child's privacy intact. Because there's no tracking hardware, there's no way for the Georneys system to keep any tracking data about your child.

What information is shared with someone if they look up my child's ID tag?

A search for a tag number only retrieves information pertinent to contacting the child's guardians. This includes any contact information the parents have entered (up to five phone numbers and three email addresses). The result also displays the child's first name only, as well as any emergency medical information.

Am I required to share my contact information?

No. You may choose to keep your contact information private by having a Silver or Gold-level account. In that case, only the child's first name and any medical information will be displayed to the user. They will be asked to enter their own contact information and a message will be sent to you, the parent(s) by any routes listed in the system (txt message to cell phone, voice call, and/or email).  Gold-level membership provides a button for the user to click, and they are connected to guardians via telephone call, all from the click of a button, anonymously.

Will Georneys report my child missing for me?

At this time, Georneys cannot report your child as missing. However, you may send your child's information to any email address you choose from within the system (coming soon). So, if you have reported the child as missing and need to update your law enforcement agency about the child's height, weight, and recent photo, you can email the information to them from here.

Who can view my child's personal information?

Only you, or people with whom you share your user name and password, can view your child's personal information. No identifying information such as home address or school is stored about your child.  All identifying information stored about your child is encrypted.  Photographs stored are not saved in such a way that would identify them.

Why do you request my home address?

For payment processing, we must have the billing address of the credit card. Also, if you purchase a shoe tag or ID tag for your child, we must be able to send them to you. This information is used for these purposes alone and will not be displayed to any user (except you, in the Parent Admin area).

Can I access Georneys from my smartphone or PDA?

It depends on the browser type on your device. If your browser does not support tables (most smartphones and PDAs do not), at this time the only feature available is the tag lookup. We are working to provide full functionality in the future so you can update your account information from your phone.

How secure is my information stored in Georneys databases?

We use full MD5 hash encryption. Every piece of information that can identify you or your child is encrypted before being entered into our database. Even the developers cannot look at your data and read it.  We also use SSL encryption when you are logged in, the same type used when you make an online purchase.

I forgot my password, and when I asked the system to send it to me, it was not the password I entered. What's up?

Because of the way we store and retrieve passwords, they cannot be sent to you - in fact, they cannot be decrypted. When you forget your password, the password is automatically reset and sent to you. When you log in, you will be asked to change your password.

Can I put a Georneys ID on my mentally challenged teenager? What about my grandmother with Alzheimer's? How about my dog?

You can use the Georneys ID on anyone you like! We do not limit ages for the system; rather, we expect that the majority of users will utilize the system for small children.
